Marco Gilli is an esteemed Italian academic and professor of Electrical Engineering at the Politecnico di Torino. Born in 1965 in Turin, Italy, he has made significant contributions in the fields of nonlinear circuits, cellular neural networks, and nonlinear system theory.
Gilli began his academic career with a focus on electrotechnics and became a full professor in October 2000. Over the years, he took on several leadership roles, including serving as Vice Dean of the First Faculty of Engineering (2002-2005) and Pro-Rector Vicario (2005-2012). In March 2012, he was appointed as the Rector of Politecnico di Torino, one of the youngest to ever hold this prestigious position.
In addition to his academic roles, Gilli has contributed significantly to research, authoring over 70 peer-reviewed international journal papers and participating in more than 100 international conferences. He is also an IEEE Fellow and has served as the Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Circuit Theory and Applications.
Currently, he serves as the President of the Compagnia di San Paolo, one of Italy’s prominent banking foundations.
